I have been busy in a var­i­ous degree of ways, and no… not the life ways, the ones that drive you crazy and make you bemoan all that the world takes from you and the lack­ing rec­i­p­ro­ca­tion it returns. I’ve been free­lance writ­ing for a pop­u­lar media group, and had a few mod­est arti­cles pub­lished with a forth in the works. It’s paid, so I’ve had to focus on those over the last month or so. In between try­ing to get And The Stars Ran Red cri­tiqued (find­ing some­one you feel com­fort­able with is appar­ently harder than first expected), I have started work­ing on May 5 & The Assas­sin.

It is with this that I come to light now.

I’ve decided to present the web ser­ial in an episodic for­mat, hope­fully once a week on Fri­days. The first episode is writ­ten, and bar a bit of colour being added, com­plete, and the sec­ond I’m going to be start­ing in the next day or two. They’re going to run at around 2,000 words each and fol­low a tightly cohe­sive sto­ry­line run­ning the serial’s full length until, hope­fully, it’s com­plete. I’m close to decid­ing the pub­lish­ing type for the episodes, and just need to nail down my approach to the pre­sen­ta­tion of the entire project, but I’m really try­ing to go for some­thing dif­fer­ent, some­thing more than just text on a page. On the style and genre front, it’s a tongue-in-cheek, cocky sci-fi thriller for adults.

Suf­ficed to say, I’m excited.

The one thing I want though, is any thoughts or feel­ings, char­ac­ter ideas or any­thing to do with expe­ri­ence in this kind of medium — I don’t mind mak­ing it reader-inspired to some degree. I could also use a cou­ple of beta-readers to check out the first episode.
