Web Serial, Wovel… Or Whatever You May Be

I know it hasn’t even been a month since I raised this idea (and granted, not even a week since I finished my manuscript) but I think I am going to pursue the online chapter-form of storytelling for my next endeavour. As I do have a strong idea for my next book, I know I can take a little time to try my hand at something new, and admittedly something I have not gone anywhere near, in any facet before.

I have done quite a bit of research on how various serial authors go about promoting their work, and how they present it; whether this is by themselves on their own website, or through a web serial (online) publisher. I’m obviously not going to snag an agent any time soon that’s going to suddenly pay me to produce anything resembling a web serial, so I’m not going to concern myself with that particular notion right now. First off, I need to get together my story-world, I need to figure out how I am going to present it — and publish it, whether through said online publishers or myself — and not least, I need to right the damn thing. Some release weekly, some bi-weekly or even monthly. For me, I have no plan on any frame for rolling it out bit by bit, but I do like the idea of weekly where possible, with intent to release it as a whole book at the end of its serial run.

I like some of the forms I have seen; the varying degrees of presentation and the platform, but these are established examples. I am a new boy to this, and as such, I may need a bit of advice. If anybody has any, I will gladly listen.

Lastly, I think I will be developing and writing May 5 & The Assassin for this little adventure of mine. It’s cheeky, spunky, adventurous, and full of action, intrigue and moral ambiguity… at least, it’s supposed to!

More incoming soon, probably.
