Sooo… just popped over and read Nick’s Vegetable post and I suddenly remembered something:
I got my Outpost cheque in the mail a couple of days ago! Duh, how could I forget to write that up on here? I know I’ve felt a little very overwhelmed with life at the moment, but really… I forgot to spout that?
It’s the first time I have received payment for one of my stories, so it’s a big deal for me personally. It kind of solidifies that I’ve actually been published. It was online — as opposed to paper — but I (unlike some) do not find a difference in that. To be (paid &) published by a literary ‘else’ is published, plain and simple.
I was going to scan it and put a picture up… you know — nostalgia. But then I figured, once I have redacted all of the information I don’t want floating about the internets, it wouldn’t be much of an image, so eh.
The only thing now is, do I deposit it or not? Is the monetary value worth more than the symbolism of what it means to me personally? Alternatively I could just scan it into an image, then get that sweet moolah :D
