Boom!

And with the end of NPI, my total word count = 20,251

Now, I’m glad that I managed to get over 20k words in 31 days (including the aforementioned two-day weekend getaway) but ultimately, I’m ecstatic that I’ve managed to actually get this far into my book. At the end of February I had began a few draft beginnings of Ran Red, but ultimately was not happy with any of them. Then came the time constraint to do something constructive and… well it started happening.

That’s my biggest happy-factor today. That I did it, that I began a book and did more than just that.

I will inevitably do a post entailing everything I have thought and experienced throughout Nick’s (March) Novel Push Initiative. But for now, thank you everyone who gave me support, and thank you to my wife for putting up with this random, suddenly happening daily deadline and all the moods that followed.

Oh and again, like Nick, it’s about time I hit 2k+ words for a day!

Take a little time off to celebrate…

Then do it all over again and hit 40K

A few short months of that and you’ll be sitting on a completed 100k novel. :D

You both seem to go out with a bang. 2k+ words at the end, very nice!

Wanted to wish you a great congratulations! You guys are insane, btw. :P

And a huge congratulations for the wives who had to deal with y’all. My fiance is about to start on his novel and so I must prepare myself aswell.

Do take a break! 20k is something that should be celebrated. :)

Holy hand-grenade, man, you made it!
Ken’s idea ain’t too bad. Think we can make 40k next time? Like chris was saying, we could up the minimum word count a little bit…

  • http://fifthwind.wordpress.com/ Ken Kiser

Actually, I just meant another 20k for a total of 40k.

20k a month is a good, solid achievable pace. Anything higher and you *could* risk getting discouraged.

If you guys just string together 4 more months of what you’ve already PROVED you can easily do… you’ll be sitting on completed 100k novels.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Now, go out there and do it. :D

I’m proud of you, Babe! You did it!

It’s such a huge step forward and the writing discipline you have created for yourself in doing this is so rewarding.

I support and encourage you to keep going! The ultimate prize: a completed novel! How cool will that be?

Wow, many a comment in my inbox, thanks everyone.

@Ken, indeed I am taking a (short) break and will be writing again by tomorrow.

@Latrina, thanks again. Chris and yourself have been staunch supporters of this little endeavour of ours, for that I thank both of you.

@Nick, you made it too! Next time, I say we up the count a little, maybe 300 — 350 minimum a day (get more people in on it too.)

@Lady J, always supporting, rewarding and kicking me up the arse when I slack! Just like any partner should!
